Fabric & Apparel Strength Testing

What is Strength Testing?
Strength testing is a vital part of quality control in the textile and apparel industry. It’s how we measure a fabric’s ability to resist breaking, tearing, and wearing out. In simple terms, it tells you how durable a garment is and how well it will perform under different types of stress, from everyday wear and tear to more extreme conditions. This ensures that your products are not only beautiful but also long-lasting and reliable for your customers.
Our Key Strength Testing Services
SR Labs offers a comprehensive suite of strength testing services to cover all aspects of fabric and apparel durability. Here are some of our most common tests:
Tensile Strength Testing
This test measures the force required to pull a fabric until it breaks. It’s a fundamental measure of the fabric’s ability to resist breaking under tension.
Tear Strength Testing
We determine the force needed to continue a tear in a fabric after an initial cut has been made. This is crucial for sportswear and other garments that might be subject to snagging or ripping.

Bursting Strength Testing
Ideal for knit fabrics and non-wovens, this test measures the force required to rupture a fabric by applying pressure. It mimics the kind of stress a garment experiences in areas like elbows and knees.
Seam Strength Testing
This test measures how much force a seam can withstand before it breaks. A strong fabric is useless if the seams are weak, so this test is essential for the overall integrity of the finished garment.
Abrasion Resistance Testing
We test how well a fabric resists surface wear, which is caused by rubbing against another surface. This is critical for products like uniforms, workwear, and upholstery.
